ControlByNet Creates an Organizational Solution for Denver Children’s Specialists

May 12, 2011

Denver Children’s Specialists moved from separate DVRs to ControlByNet’s solution to monitor its six locations throughoutColorado.  ControlByNet’s solution is based on its i-flashback software.  In the past, remote video access included downloaded front-end applications run from an onsite computer, with onsite storage and multiple logins for different sites.  ControlByNet’s i-flashback provides an easy to use, 100-percent browser-based application.

“We are constantly looking to utilize the latest in technology to improve our efficiencies and capabilities,” said Jonathan Lee, partner in Denver Children’s Specialists.  “ControlByNet provides us with the full benefits of having our security ‘on the cloud’ including remote hosting, multiple location access from a single web login and access on mobile devices.  It’s an enterprise solution versus the usual model of many independent solutions being patched together which we wanted to avoid.”

Key benefits and cost savings for the locations utilizing i-flashback REMOTE include:

  • no onsite recording devices required in many instances
  • key cameras  recorded  offsite, which is critical for security when onsite video could be compromised or ‘disconnected’
  • grouping of remote cameras from different locations together through a browser interface; saving significant time in viewing/monitoring and enhanced ease of use.

With multiple locations, ControlByNet’s ability to centrally link together Denver Children’s Specialists locations with a single login removed the troublesome problem of remembering many different links or IP addresses for video access.  All video surveillance servers, regardless if hosted by ControlByNet or at a Denver Children’s Specialists site, are linked or ‘attached’ to each other allowing for centrally managed user accounts. This provides a true single web sign-on with levels of access for each of the employees.  The manager at each location can see just his site, while the regional manager can see his area sites and the partners  can see all of the sites as dictated by the security department, all from one login and company web address.  Both solutions allow a centralized management system which saves money and provides greater control of the organizational security.

Flowers Crossing Community Utilizes Cloud-Based Video from ControlByNet Hosted Surveillance Solutions to Solve Vandalism Problems

May 5, 2011

Located in a quiet suburb ofAtlanta, the community of Flowers

Crossing looks like other established neighborhoods across the country.  The peace and quiet was welcome and desired, however like many other properties the community began to see some changes from both its own members, as well as unwelcome visitor.

Vandals began making a mark on the common areas including spray painting doors and tennis screens, late-night swimming and horseplay, throwing chairs and concrete bags in the pool, loitering into all hours of the night and even breaking into the clubhouse and pool areas.

The board began looking at options to stop the behavior, primarily a video surveillance solution that could be assessed from board members homes or offices and as needed by the police.  One of the most important requirements of the solution was for the video to be recorded off of the property.  The vandals had already broken into the pump-rooms and clubhouse, so what was to stop them from simply following the camera cable and walking out with the evidence.

Lance Graves, the board member tasked with the project, contacted ControlByNet.  “ControlByNet has a history with community surveillance and was one of the only viable options to offer the remote-hosted surveillance our community required.”

Flowers Crossing has two amenity areas, each with a pool and tennis courts.  ControlByNet installed four cameras at each area.  Each of the amenity areas was equipped with an Internet connection.   Using it’s i-flashback™ cloud-based video surveillance solution, ControlByNet provided Flowers Crossing with a result that left only cameras and a network switch at the locations.  Using IP or digital cameras allows the community to have everything offsite,  as well as higher quality images then analog cameras provide.  The software also allows the two locations to appear as one for all the viewers; allowing quick access to review video archives or see live video at any time.

“The ControlByNet solution has provided us with valuable information and helped cease the reckless activity. Once word got out that we were on ‘candid camera’ and that the video was all off-site things really settled down,” said Graves.  “We have also seen benefits beyond security. We now use the system to check on lifeguards, pool service and ground maintenance workers and the board can do this from anywhere with an Internet connection.”
